Fiber Lasers
Fiber lasers combine high efficiency, good beam quality and flexible beam delivery through optical fiber. They are used for industrial applications including metal cutting and welding, marking, engraving, drilling, ablation and additive manufacturing. Continuous-wave, quasi-continuous-wave and pulsed configurations are available for processes ranging from precision micromachining to high-power production.
A fiber laser should be selected according to the material and its reflectivity, thickness, average power, pulse energy, beam quality, cooling requirements and target cycle time. For aluminium, copper and other reflective materials, source protection, optics and process stability must also be evaluated.
