The MBP 200 bubble pressure tensiometer from DataPhysics Instruments is a high-performance measuring device. It uses the maximum bubble pressure method.
The MBP 200 can direct a gas flow through a capillary into a liquid, generating bubbles at the opening of the capillary. To monitor the pressure inside the gas bubbles, the device is equipped with a highly sensitive pressure sensor. Based on the detected maximum pressures, the bubble surface age and the dynamic surface tension are calculated. In addition, the MBP 200 features a valve system that can generate volume flows of different intensities, in order to achieve varied surface ages during the measurement.
The MBP 200 can be used to determine dynamic surface tensions in the range from 10 mN/m to 100 mN/m, for surface ages between 5 milliseconds and 200 seconds. This makes the device ideal for analyzing liquids such as surfactant solutions over a wide dynamic range.
Key Features
Reusable or disposable capillaries: MBP 200 can be equipped with both reusable glass capillaries and disposable plastic capillaries. Disposable capillaries can be used across a wide dynamic range, reduce cleaning effort, and prevent cross-contamination.
High differential pressure measurement: MBP 200 can measure high differential pressures, above 3400 Pascal, enabling the analysis of high-viscosity liquids, such as certain oils.
Temperature control: The sample vessel temperature can be adjusted between -15 °C and 135 °C using optional temperature control units. This allows for the analysis of dynamic surface tension as a function of temperature.
Automatic liquid doser (optional): With the optional LDU 25 liquid dosing unit, concentration series can be performed automatically. This allows users to determine the dynamic surface tension for different surface ages depending on concentration—for example, for a surfactant or additive—in a single measurement procedure.
Splash protection: The sample vessel is surrounded by a splash guard, which reduces the cleaning effort.
Collision protection: A safety mechanism prevents the capillary from colliding with the bottom of the vessel, thus avoiding damage to both the capillary and the device.

Accessories
The modular design of the MBP 200 makes it possible to find the right accessories for any demanding measurement situation. These include the LDU 25 liquid dosing unit for adjusting the concentration of surfactants, temperature control units for values between -15 °C and 135 °C in the measuring chamber, and the TP 50 control panel for intuitive operation of the device.
